Birthparent Resume Letter: Fred and Kathi

Dear Birthmother/Birthparents,

We are the Stewart family...Fred, Kathi, Carianne and Rusty Dog. We very much want to have another child in our family and are hoping to adopt again. We know that this must be a confusing and emotionally difficult time for you. We respect you for your strength and ability to make this decision, and to take the time to find the right family for your child. We sincerely hope that our letter will help you and that you will consider us as a family to adopt your child.

We have been happily married for almost seven years and having children was something we both wanted early in our marriage. Within the first year, we found out we could not have children, that we both had infertility problems we were not aware of, and the news was very devastating. But we sought counseling, attended classes, conferences and knew we wanted to adopt. We were selected by Carianne's birthmother and we continue to keep in contact with her through letters and pictures. We cannot begin to describe how wonderful it was to get Cari and we thank her birthmother everyday for picking us, trusting us, and giving us the opportunity to be her parents.

A little more about us...We live in Elk Grove, CA., a town south of Sacramento. The area has a rural feel to it as there is alot of open country around us. We have enjoyed living here and the town offers a variety of activities, festivals and parades oriented to families and children. We live within walking distance to the park, library, old town and stores. This has been nice because we can walk to Carianne's preschool, gymnastic classes, etc. Our home is an older three bedroom, two bath, with lots of charm, large old trees and a big backyard with a pool, waterfall, and playarea. We have added wallpaper, stenciled, built an oak mantle, entertainment center and it's a very comfortable home.

We are both college educated and Fred has his general contractor's license. He has his own business which offers builder services to large residential builders. Having his own business has enabled him to have a more flexible schedule and participate in daily child care activities. He is about 5'9" tall with medium build, blond hair, blue/green eyes and a tan complexion. He loves all outdoor activities, enjoys golf, hunting, fishing and is an excellent carpenter He has built some beautiful additions to our home and plans to someday build our new home. His mother's family is Italian and there are lots of large, fun, family gatherings. There are several other adopted children in his family who we have contact with.

Kathi works part-time as a pediatric medical social worker in a large teaching hospital. She plans to take time off with the arrival of a new baby and will return working only part-time. She enjoys participating in Carianne's preschool and taking her to different classes and activities. She is about 5'5" tall, medium build, with auburn hair, green eyes and a fair complexion. She loves to travel, camp, tinker with crafts, and play the piano. She and Carianne are learning to play together. Her family lives nearby and they assist with childcare and are also very supportive.

Now about the big sister, Carianne...she is a bright, fun loving little girl! She loves animals, has a large collection of stuffed animals and is the "mommy" to all of them. She attends a Montessori preschool that is a block away from our home. She has participated in gymagery and next school year wants to try Jazzerettes. She loves the water and will probably be a very good swimmer; we have taken her to swim lessons this summer. Recently, she told us that it's time to bring a new baby home from the hospital because she is getting "old." She is a very thoughtful little girl and we think she will make a nice big sister.

As a family we enjoy doing lots of things together and we expose Carianne to many different activities. We have traveled to different states and taken her to national parks. We have a trailer and enjoy camping, snow skiing, and, of course, places like Disneyland, Santa's Village, Marine World, etc. We take annual trips with each family; with Fred's, we all stay at the Colorado River and enjoy water sports. With Kathi's, we stay at a cabin in Lake Tahoe where we have a tradition of an annual family talent night which all the kids participate in...it is hilarious! We also belong to a support group for families created by adoption and attend their monthly functions. We have a strong faith in God and take the responsibility of raising a child very seriously.

We are working with an adoption attorney, Nanci Worcester, and an adoption support group, The Birth Connection. Both assisted us with our first adoption and know us. We would love to meet you and answer any questions you might have. one advantage to picking a family with a child is getting the opportunity to see how we have parented and meeting the child. We would like to work with you toward an open adoption plan comfortable for all of us. Please know that we would love and treasure a second child as much as our first. We want our children to grow up knowing they were adopted, understanding the reasons why, and that they are truly special and loved. We want you to know that we can provide your child with a happy, loving, and financially secure home and many wonderful opportunities in life.

We wish you the best and thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. If you would like to know more about us, please call us collect at 1-916-686-5105 or our adoption attorney at l-800-523-6781. Thank You.
