Sound Off! CELEBRATE ADOPTION! CELEBRATE FAMILIES!

What are some of the best things you have to say about adoption? In preparation for a coffee table gift book on POSITIVE ADOPTION, you are invited to share comments, stories and insights from your experience with adoptive families everywhere. First person responses should be between 250-1000 words in length and may be sent by email or on diskette (sent to PO Box 577, Hackettstown, NJ 07840). Entries have a better chance of being used if accompanied by 1-3 clear, uncluttered informal family photos ( color or B&W) which cannot be returned.

The book tentatively is planned with five sections:
1. Newcomers to adoption

-making the decision
-arrivals/homecomings

2. Families in the "parenting trenches

-proud family moments
special occasions that bring attention to the experience of being adopted --fulfilling experiences, unique comments, etc.

3. Positive adoption feelings from the adoptee's point of view

--- adoptees of all ages are encouraged to respond! We'd like to feature the OLDEST and the YOUNGEST respondent!
4. "Empty-nesters" reflections -- on being a family formed through adoption, especially for parents whose adopted children are preparing to go out on their own or who already are independent

5. Others touched by adoption -- birthparents; caregivers; relatives, adoption professionals...

Finally, we are looking for "one-liners" or quips that capture the essence of the adoption experience in some way.
