This is a wonderful primer for adoptive parents who are adopting or have recently adopted a child older than two. There are several good points in this article and one that sticks out for me is to not overstimulate your child. I think that are first instinct is to make it fun for the child with trips to friends, family, etc. and parties at home, but for the first few weeks or even months it might be good to gradually introduce your child to everyone. This gives them time to ease into your life rather than jumping into it. It also gives your immediate family time to get to know your child and your child to know them.
