If you are thinking about adopting a foster child, then this article goes over the basics for you. One thing stands out in this article to me.
"Be aware that all parties to an adoption have rights, and follow through on making sure — to your satisfaction — that the birth family is being considered at every step" - This is very important for the child and for you in the long run. Make sure that family members have been contacted. In this way, you will insure, to your satisfaction, that you have done everything for that child to restore him or her to their family.
