While I think that more people should be encouraged to read these days, I know videos can be an excellent tool for learning and teaching more about adoption. I think it is especially critical for children pre-literacy to get visual images that help them start to make sense of their identities as adopted persons, and particularly to know that there are others like them out there, and that their life is a blessing and is special to everyone they touch and will touch. I also think it's incredibly important that educators include videos about adoption and issues about adoption in general in their daily lives, particularly if they know there are adoptees in their classrooms. I think creating an open environment for children and families that includes visual aids really can help children process the information more effectively.

Similarly, I think videos for adult adoptees can help create a community of support for those that think they might be alone in their feelings surrounding their own adoptions. The combination of books and videos can really encapsulate a wide ranges of feelings and experiences and help the healing process, which I realize never is fully complete.
