I have a person very close to me who is adopted. He was adopted from Guatemala, and is certain his birth mother is from Ecuador. She traveled to Guatemala specifically for the adoption at a very young age. He would like very much to travel to Ecuador and search for his birth mother, but he is afraid he will not find her, or that he may find her un-well. I would like to help him in this as he means a great deal to me and I know how much this means to him. That being said, I have no experience whatsoever in searching for birth parents, let alone internationally. I am looking for any guidance anyone can give on where we should start. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The adoption was completed in 1979.

I believe there are resources online for this, professionals who find people for a living. There is even a show on TV in America, I cant remember the name though. Dont worry about where to start, just search on google and you will end up where you need to be.
