AUGUST 2001
Hello Sandra and Adopting.org! We are excited to say that we have gotten a newborn, Luke. He arrived on July 20th and came home from the hospital in Sacramento to our home in the Bay Area two days later. He was 8 lbs. 7 oz and 20 1/2" long. We are very excited to say the least. Luke is doing very well! We are happy to ask you to remove our link from the waiting families page. We are listed under Kim and Anne. Thanks for everything.
It is with great joy that I write to you and let you know that Bennett and I welcomed a wonderful little boy into our lives last week. Leo was born last Monday and is thriving and fabulous. The birthmother appeared in court yesterday and will be traveling back to her home in a few days. What can I say? We had our best response from your website, including our eventual birthmother. "I wrote to you a few months back to tell you about our adoption that was in progress because of your adoption newsletter. I am happy to report that we have 2 new daughters ages 1 and 2. I read about these girls online in late December through the posting from Illien International Adoption Agency in Atlanta, Georgia. My husband and I didn't even have a homestudy. We worked really hard to get everything accomplished as quickly as possible and 6 months later our family is very busy but very happy with our 2 additional girls. Dear Sandra,
Thank you so much for such a terrific site. We began our adoption search in January 1998. In December, 1998 our son, Quinten Forrester, was born on my birthday. What a birthday surprise! In January of 2000 we decided to start our search again. We posted our site in February and after just a few weeks we were contacted by a wonderful couple looking for adoptive parents for their baby, but she was only 7 weeks pregnant! Still, we liked them so much that we all made a commitment to each other when she was just 11 weeks pregnant. In August we had the opportunity to fly to our birth parent's home state and see our baby on ultrasound - IT'S A GIRL!!! Over the coarse of the following seven months we became very close, and on November 19, 2000 we were at our daughter's birth mother's side as she gave birth to Naomi Elise born at 2:57 a.m. It was the most incredible experience of my life.
Both of our adoptions were very loving experiences, but this one in particular was a very loving and open from the beginning. Even the nurses were amazed with our openness and love for each other. I credit that to the wealth of information that was available to our daughter's birth parents, much from your site, and to the time that we had to build our relationship. Both of our children's birth parents found us on the Internet, however, we listed with a number of sites so we can not tell exactly which site they found us on. Still, the information gained from your site was very much a deciding factor in choosing life and choosing an open adoption for our precious baby daughter.

Dave and Pam welcomed Michael home on December 1st, having been present outside the delivery room for his birth on November 19th. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for bringing us together with his birthmom! She found it in early June about two weeks after we linked to your site.. We started building the relationship over the last five months of her pregnancy and got to know her and her family fairly well. She called us when her water broke, and we had plenty of time to drive the seven hours to the hospital and be outside the delivery room for his birth. Our birthmom was the VERY first phone call we received after linking, and we all feel it was 'meant to be'. However we did have several more opportunities present themselves in the first six weeks after linking, so when we're ready to adopt again your site will be our first stop!

An agency in Salt Lake City, Utah found our page on your site. We wanted to let you know that we successfully adopted a beautiful baby boy, and have deleted our home page to avoid birthmothers finding it through searches. (we feel that is so unfair).
Anyway, thank you so much for your help, and for listing our page. He is beautiful and healthy, and our life is enriched even more by his addition to our family.
We extend our best wishes and good luck to those couples who are still searching and want to tell them to hang in there, because it does work. Our son and his birthmother contacted us through the internet, and we are a success story after just 4 months.

Yes, we do have a successful adoption. We were contacted through the internet. It may have been through your site but we are not sure. She doesn't remember exactly where she was surfing. Odds are that it was your site, but we will never know for sure. Thanks again. . .
In order to get some idea of how to succeed with a Dear Birthmother Letter online, we asked for the details on this letter....Here's the response
20 May 1997
We did make contact with our birthmother through the internet. We had linked to your site, Adoption on Line Connection, Christian Adoption, and Independent Adoption Center. We also had linked our web page to over 100 search engines. The birthmother found us by surfing in adoption stuff, but she doesn't remember which one. Adoption On Line Connection used black and white photos and the birthmom said it was a color photo, so my guess is that it was your site that she found us on, because she had no previous knowledge of the agency we were working with, Independent Adoption Center, which also had us linked. In the one month we had our "Dear Birthmother" letter on our web site we were contacted by five or six birthmothers. We feel very blessed, indeed.
