Keeping a journal is a traditional way to record special moments, from the time we're young and write a daily "Dear Diary" entry, to later years when we write memoirs or special thoughts and wishes for our children and grandchildren. Parents expecting biological children have a wide selection of diaries and journals to note doctor visit reports, display the first ultrasound, and record visions of their future family life. Adopting parents are also expecting. While there may be no certain due date, there are the same emotions associated with impending parenthood, the same visions of a future family. Till There Was You is one of the best adoption expectancy journals I've read for these future parents.

...to share one day with the child that grew in your heart.

The books's creator, Rebecca Lyn Gold, is an adoptive parent who, through her own adoption experiences, discovered that there are some shared stages of emotions and expectations... although quite different from those of a biological pregnancy. She contributes entries from her own journal and has pulled together the writings of others (including her husband) to create a welcoming community for adoptive parents-to-be.

Till There Was You is more than a journal for adopting parents to record their thoughts, fears, hopes and dreams as they wait and anticipate the arrival of a child. It is a roadmap through each trimester, the Big Day, the days of beginnings and endings. It is more than a compilation of adoptive parents' experiences. It is a guided journey on which the reader navigates a course through periods of waiting, doubt, and uncertainty, accompanied by others who have been there before.

Each of the five sections contains thought-provoking questions and uniquely appropriate real-life situations, lived through and grown through by the journal's contributors. Adoptive parents – moms and dads – in all sorts of adoptions, from infant to older child, domestic to international, share their hearts. Their writings consist of bare truths, personal truths, with nothing fancy or pretentious about their lives, their successes. These insights and experiences alone will be a reassuring self-affirmation for others who wait.

This journal will be a cherished and well-used companion for those starting their adoption expectancy and for those who share the recorded emotions and special moments with their children in years to come.
