In older adoptions, actual names were rarely revealed. Information given to adopting and placing parents (if any) was very limited.

Placing parents may have been told the occupations of adopting parents, and whether there were other siblings in the family. Adopting parents may have been given educational, ethnic, or religious background, and/or occupation of the birth parents or their parents. If you have any of this information, do include it when posting to a registry - it may be the clue to a "find."
