Notice of Abandonment and Wish to Place for Adoption

Tennessee law states that a Notice of Abandonment and the Department's wish to proceed with actual placement of children into the adoption system must be placed in a local paper for a minimum of 4 weeks.

In Chattanooga this is done in the Hamilton County Herald. It's a weekly periodical that has been published from about 1910 to the present. All copies of the paper are on microfilm at the Bicentennial Library, downtown Chattanooga, corner of Broad Street, sandwiched between the TVA complex, Trade Center - Marriott Hotel, and across the street from the Read House.
