"Deep In My Heart" was informative and deeply moving, and brought back many memories of my experience as an unwed mother in Arkansas in 1970.
It touched on many issues about the importance of knowing your family history and about inherited illnesses. It focused on the fact that we birthmothers never forget our child "lost to adoption," regardless of how that child was conceived or what race the father may have been. Our hearts do not recognize color of skin, only flesh of our flesh.
I was advised by my doctor to search for my son. I have some diseases that he and his children may have inherited. I haven't worked for a year because of a heart attack and other challenges due to these diseases.
I found out two months ago that the records are closed to adult adoptees and birthparents in all states except four.
