Adult adoptee

I viewed "Deep In My Heart" with a great deal of interest, and hoping deep in my heart it would be my story.

The story of a birth mother was beautiully told, or at least itrepresented many of the stories I have heard. It also told the story of the foster mother well. Where the movie fell short, and almost lost my attention, was in the story of the adoptive parents. I have seen so many parents who have loved their adopted children as their own, and this woman had no clue as to how to parent.

The adoptive mother and the child were portrayed as almost indifferent to one another until the end. The goal of taking a child considered difficult to place was noble, but it was not carried out well. There was no bond, or love, or warmth portrayed in the adoptive mother's role.

The fairy tale ending can give hope to many adoptees, but for many others it will be far different from the reality we have experienced.

I am an adoptee who has been reunited with my birth mother, but not yet with my birth father. And unfortunately at my age, and his, chances are not good, unless I really push the issue.
