Bill Pierce: 1936-2004
Founding president and CEO of the National Council for Adoption. Following his retirement, he remained active as a vocal adoption advocate and commentator on adoption and child welfare policy issues.

Ruby Lee Piester: 1915-2003
Former Executive Director of The Gladney Center and a founder of the National Council for Adoption, Mrs. Piester was a major influence in adoption in America.
