Part 4: I hated the label...

In summary, for years I screamed that I did not want to be in Special Education because I hated the label of being handicapped. It was not until my high school years that I realized the importance of special education and how it helped me succeed in High School and I will graduate in the class of 2001 from Hackettstown High. I am very proud and very excited.

In closing, one of my teachers in high school, Mrs. Craig taught me never to quit. At the end of each and every semester she read a poem called "Don't Quit". It was the poem that kept her going for eleven weeks of student teaching and made me desire to NEVER QUIT. I have shared a copy with you today in your program

In the lyrics from the song "We are the World", written by Michael Jackson... "There comes a time when we hear a certain call". These lyrics mean to me that I have heard the call to say good bye to Hackettstown High School, but still carry the memories that I had made there. I'll remember my teachers and case manager. I will keep in touch with those who have made impact on my life.

Finally, I would like to end my speech with some advice.
My advice to you is to always believe in your dreams. Never give up hope. Reach for the stars. Believe, Achieve, and be successful in what you do and when you do it.
It is time for me to meet my next challenge, to graduate, go to work and start down the employment path way.

Thank you for your time and ears.
