Favorite Gift Ideas
Giving gifts to the various members of our families can often be difficult when we consider the many forms of adoption (open, closed, domestic, international, transracial, etc.) My favorite non-book choices go almost anywhere, for almost any occasion.
The English American Recorded live at The Court Theater in Los Angeles (1999), English comedian and adoptee Alison Larkin uses her own search and reunion with her American birthmother as the topic of this hysterically funny 70-minute one-woman show. While this is technically listed as an audio book, it's a recording of her live stage presentation. Some adult language.
Artist's Site "Equal Rights in Adoption" Checks The brainstorm of Adoption Crossroads, your personal checks can carry the message "Equal Rights in Adoption" below an image of the scales of justice.
Vendor's Site Greeting Cards for those Touched by Adoption Artist Patrick McMahon has created a range of greeting cards combining words and images to convey messages appropriate for all connected to adoption, and for occasions in the reunion process for adoptees and members of their first families.
Handmade Adoption Expressions Cards Made from premium scrapbooking materials, these individually crafted cards are a great choice for every occasion (although they are listed in a Mother's Day category). Blank inside, come with white linen envelopes.
)Hand-Lettered Adoption and Family Poems These beautifully matted and framed poems include something for everyone. From Gibran's "On Children" to the Adoption Creed, there are many selections from which to choose.
Vendor's Site Silver Photo Frames Whether it's the gift of a baby's first photo for the birth family or for parents and grandparents, silver frames make any photograph special.
Anne Geddes Prints and Posters Who doesn't love these wonderful photographs of children? A great choice for our extended, blended, or multicultural families, and they're available as prints and posters - perfect for your home or as a gift.
