Johnsmom
I would tell him to eat a piece every time he thought of me.

poppyflr
I can barely get the guy on the phone....

Johnsmom
I works the other way around of course...........

JodyHOST
i've been waiting 6 months for respite... nothing...

KAYDOC
hard to get respite -

SusanMW
Johnsmom, you mentioned working on compliance, that's one of my big issues with Hannah. She just has to be in control and do it HER way...

KimHOST
That is a difficult situation poppy, you are all in limbo

Johnsmom
oh i like the marker thing Jody

Johnsmom
Yes Susan I know the feeling.

poppyflr
these four youngsters are so needy....it's hard to do anything with my own children...and mine are 11, 13, 15

Chat Moderator
Susan, I'm sure you're aware of it - but as one who did it, I have to remind you that RAD kids are wonderful "yes" men... yes you to death and do it our way...

SusanMW
I like that..."yes" men...good phrase!

KimHOST
Is reunification still the goal of the case plan, poppy?

poppyflr
yes...I just received the case plan in the mail yesterday....after I sent the caseworker the FL statues as to my rights

Johnsmom
What I do, is give instructions and when he messes it up or changes the way he is doing it from the way I said to do it then he is done, and I take over and he spends time in his room to give him time to be ready to be a part of the family and do it my way.

SusanMW
Does he go to his room easily?

Johnsmom
he didn't at first, now he goes, stomping sometimes, mumbling others - but he goes.

SusanMW
I bet that's big progress...!

KAYDOC
ignoring the stomping mumbling and throwing can be hard to do

Johnsmom
if he ever whines while doing chores then I say "thank you for letting me know you are tired and need a nap" and off to his room he goes. then we try again in about 30 minutes

Johnsmom
oh yes, and You have to do it with no emotion on you face.

poppyflr
I like that! "thank you for letting me know you are tired and need a nap...." can I use that?

JodyHOST
absolutely...no bells and whistles allowed!

Johnsmom
yes! and you say it matter of factly

SusanMW
Hannah goes sometimes...other times she just attacks me...although that is less and less often due to our great therapist, well, and to me, maybe a little bit...

Johnsmom
you also use "thank you for letting me know you are not strong enough to handle that right now. No problem I will do it for you."
