KimHOST
That makes a lot of sense.

KAYDOC
I found that Building the bonds of attachment - D. Hughes and Healing the Hurt Child - Donovan were great

KimHOST
I am working with a mom who is regaining custody of her child after two years in placement.

Johnsmom
we took control away even further, treating the child more like a 2 year old whom cannot yet take care of himself - there fore instilling the idea that we will take care of him, his every need and want.

KimHOST
She adopted the child at age 2

JodyHOST
Why was the child removed?

SusanMW
Also, I give her lots of chores as restitution instead of timeouts.

poppyflr
abuse and neglect....Jody

KimHOST
Now she is 13 and seems to be doing very well so far

JodyHOST
We do the chores too....then I praise them for making amends and trying so hard to do something great for the family.

Johnsmom
hold gots to give hug and pizzazz for strong sitting

SusanMW
Some days I'm good on the pizzazz and some days I really have to dig deep to do it.

KAYDOC
next month I plan on play / dream therapy of walking my children through what I call a RAD birth

poppyflr
I've been having Michael hug his sister and brother when he has hurt them and say he is sorry...looking them in the eyes.

JodyHOST
what's that Kay?

KimHOST
Interesting

Johnsmom
anyway, John has to ask for everything even to use the restroom!!! no free privileges

KAYDOC
even the 13 year olds want attention of a baby - give the child things you would do if they were a baby - the response here has been great

Johnsmom
those have to be earned over a period of time doing what is expected of him. which for the most part is being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE AND FUN TO BE AROUND.

poppyflr
would that work for a five year old too?....treating him like a baby?

JodyHOST
No one is too old to be loved with tender loving care

Chat Moderator
poppy, it works for me... and I'm an old person

SusanMW
poppyflr, oh yes! Hannah is 8 1/2 and we still do the "baby routine."

Johnsmom
oh yes even would work faster the younger they are, the holding therapy we use is between him and i, holding him like a baby and rocking and talking or singing lullabies

poppyflr
what exactly do you do?
