13Chat Transcript: continuedshenia We just adopted a 2 year old who has experienced separation (5 times), neglect, lack of nurturing etc. she will cuddle at times. Does this mean she does not have RAD? How soon would we know? she does go to anyone. She will however initiate eye contact lots of times.
ToniD well if that's the case it is driving me crazy... we tried a counselor... that didn't know her butt from a hole in the ground...

Chat Moderator toni, before you came in we were talking about the babying, going back to either recreate or create from scratch that cuddling nurturing "safe" time, even with a bottle
shenia no, she just has been here 2 weeks. Have read to cuddle, rock, wear in a sling and she will let me most of the time. Yep I started the bottle again too.

Johnsmom When working with these children, it is hard but you must keep everything a surprise, or else they will deliberately get into trouble not to do something that they are even looking forward to.
Chat Moderator right - they are not dumb kids... most are quite bright
Johnsmom never tell them when you plan a fun trip, never tell them when you plan cuddle time and try not to do it the same time every day, make it a surprise. if they don't know it's coming they can't mess it up

ToniD I did that last week with the zoo trip.... Sue didn't know where we were going til we got there and the trip wasn't near as frustrating... she loved the surprise part
