Guided by what she feels is a strong spiritual 'rightness' about her journey, Wendy points to the series of small miracles that have occurred from the moment she first conceived of the idea. From her equipment needs to family support, the encouragement she needed was there when needed.

When sources of funding dried up, her husband threw his full support into the decision to fund it themselves and, while they hope to recoup their costs, it wasn't a prerequisite, and the idea of making a profit wasn't even a consideration.

And other family members have responded to Wendy's enthusiasm and positive attitudes, to add their encouragement and love... and suggestions. Daughter Martha extracted a promise that Wendy would solicit all sides and opinions of the adoption story; daughter Amy plnned to join her mum for part of the trip; and son Scott signed his emails, "Go to your destiny, follow your passion."

Heal Thyself

Filmmaking is what Wendy wants to do. Her children are grown, establishing their own homes and families, and her talent for capturing moments and series of moments on film makes this a logical choice. But this first film is a bit different.

"Feeling frozen in time - that's a good way to describe it. I have always loved easily, but my full capacity to love and give was always capped. Findng Martha was wonderful, fulfilling... it opened my heart, it opened a door where my love for her could flourish, but it still wasn't the wholeness of love. There was still a numbness - something that couldn't be healed by anyone other than myself to a certain point, and from there by God. Something no human - not even Martha - could heal. My family circle is complete, I'm happier, but not totally healed."

The making of this film is the ultimate healing act, the completion of the story for Wendy Thompson.
