Thank You for my Sister
This letter is to a woman I will never meet. She has had such an impact on my life that I hope somehow she sees this. Dear Special Person: Almost 3 decades ago circumstances brought us together. I was a little girl in a family that was unable to have any more children and you were pregnant with a child that you wanted to have a better life than you were able to give her at the time. Your baby became my sister. For reasons of her own, she does not want to find you, but I want to tell you what your gift has meant to our family.
My sister is the shining life of our family. As beautiful as she is on the outside, she is even more beautiful on the inside. They say that when people die their whole life flashes before their eyes. I wish that I could flash my sister's life before your eyes so that you would know how we nurtured, cared for, and loved the gift you gave us. You had to trust us implicitly, giving us your child and knowing that you would probably never see or hear from her again. I want you to know that we did right by you and you are never far from our thoughts and prayers.
Every special event and milestone in my sister's life gave me pause to stop and think of you. When she graduated high school and then college, I thought of you. When our parents walked her down the aisle to marry her college sweetheat, I thought of you. When her beautiful daughter was born, followed by her gorgeous son 18 months later, I thought of you and wished you could know how happy she is, how loved she is. When I look at the mischievous twinkle in my 3 year old niece's eye, I remember the same twinkle in my baby sister's eye and I think of you. All babies are a gift from God, but my sister was also a selfless gift from you and there are no words to express my gratitude. All my love, Her big sister
