November 30 1998, when I just turned twenty years
old, I gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Emily.
By my choosing, I also became a Birthmother three
days later. Not only am I a Birthmother and I am
also a single mom to my son, Isaiah. I have been on
both sides and I do not regret either choice.

I chose a very open adoption with visitation and it is
going quite well. I am an advocate for open adoptions
and open adoption education for all considering
adoption as an option. I believe a woman
considering adoption should know all her rights and
she should know all her options, then and only then,
can she make a sound choice.

I believe there can be healing after the adoption
choice. By God's hand there can be beauty for
ashes and an oil of joy instead of despair. I am
passionate about the issues Birthmothers are faced
with, but also other issues affecting women, such
as: Father/Daughter relationships,
Eating Disorders, Co-Dependant relationships,
Single Parenting, and Crisis Pregnancies.

Currently I am attending full time Youngstown State
University in which I am working toward my degree in
Professional Writing. Due to the fact there are no
Birthmother support groups in my area, I am
preparing to start my own group. In my free time I
enjoy reading, writing, photography and of course,
my son, Isaiah.

It is a blessing to be here at Adopting.Org and to
form friendships with those on all sides of the
adoption triad. Right after I had my daughter,
Adopting.Org was the first source of support I found.
I am honored to be in the position of offering support
to those who stood where I once was and to learn
from those who now walk the path where I will
one day tread.
