Gudrun calls Jeff "the mellow fellow" The two of us come from very different environments. Gudrun was born and brought up in Iceland where all her family still lives, Jeff is from Chicago. We both are the most educated in our respective families (in terms of university degrees), we both are the only ones in our families who are unable to have children. We love beauty. We love the raw beauty and the awesome power of the wilderness. We enjoy travelling both in the Icelandic wilderness and in the beautiful canyon country of the southwest US. Gudrun has a vast network of extended family in Iceland who we are very close to.
We go to visit with family in Iceland at least once a year. Our extended family is very supportive of our longing to adopt. We have lived together for over 17 years. We first met when Gudrun was in graduate school in Fort Collins Colorado. When she went back to work in Iceland for almost two years, Jeff followed and the rest is history. We went back to Colorado and lived there from 1984 to 1992. Then we lived in Cambridge England until we settled in Irvine California in fall of 1995. We have developed a long-lasting nourishing relationship and we enjoy spending time together both at home and travelling.

The family on this webpage is working with Pact, An Adoption Alliance, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the highest quality adoption services to children of color. We would be happy to give you more information about them and adoption in general - please feel free to call us (ask for Marta Barton, one of our Adoption Coordinator and a birth parent herself who placed her first son for adoption in 1991) at (800) 750-7590.
Our primary client is the child. In order to serve the child, we address the needs of all the child's parents, by advising families facing a crisis pregnancy and by offering lifelong education to adoptive families and birth families on matters of race and adoption. Our goal is for every child to feel wanted honored and loved, a cherished member of a strong family with proud connections to the rich cultural heritage that is his or her birthright. Pact was incorporated in 1991 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
