The element that has been missing from our lives all these years is a child to share our love with. Gudrun has always loved children and is a natural with them. She has two younger sisters that she took care of when she was growing up, and a number of nieces and nephews. Jeff does not have the same experience with children, but he is a wonderful and loving human being and he enjoys interacting with children when he has a chance to.
Gudrun and Olivia (the daughter of Jeff & Gudrun's close friends) The school system in our area is nationally recognized for excellence. There is a Montessori school within a five minute walk from us. The elementary school and the high school, both tops in the region, are only a mile away. Even though we love our condo, in anticipation of a growing family, we are now in the process of building a single-family house. It is located only a stone's throw away from our current location, but there we will have more space and more importantly, we will have a backyard for little ones to play in. We will move into our new house in November 2000. We plan to spend as much time with our new child as possible. Once the baby arrives, Gudrun will take some time off from work. Even after returning to work, both our work schedules are flexible enough that we will not need childcare for the first year. We have no specific expectations for our children. We hope to encourage our child's own inclinations and creativity. We do not believe in punishment but rather discipline in the form of learning from ones own experiences and mistakes. We both look forward to guiding our children in self-reliance, respect and responsibility. Barbecue master Jeff

The family on this webpage is working with Pact, An Adoption Alliance, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the highest quality adoption services to children of color. We would be happy to give you more information about them and adoption in general - please feel free to call us (ask for Marta Barton, one of our Adoption Coordinator and a birth parent herself who placed her first son for adoption in 1991) at (800) 750-7590.
Our primary client is the child. In order to serve the child, we address the needs of all the child's parents, by advising families facing a crisis pregnancy and by offering lifelong education to adoptive families and birth families on matters of race and adoption. Our goal is for every child to feel wanted honored and loved, a cherished member of a strong family with proud connections to the rich cultural heritage that is his or her birthright. Pact was incorporated in 1991 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
