Dear Birth parents:

Difficult times. Gut wrenching decisions. But not a time without hope. We empathize with your anxiety and pain and hope that our need will offer you an alternative for stability, reassurance and a caring environment for the precious life that you have created. We are unable to bear our own child and we are therefore seeking to adopt a child that we will love and nurture as if it were our own. We hope that our need will offer you an alternative that will give us both the options and destinies that our respective situations require at this time.

Jeff has his own business selling rare and antique books on the Internet. His business is based at home, and our garage (and the neighbor's garage that Jeff rents) looks like an interesting and exciting bookshop. Gudrun is an associate professor at the University of California Irvine. She teaches a very ethnically diverse group of students about the atmosphere and how it functions. She also carries out research on changes now occurring in our climate.

Our hearts are open to a child of Latino or Asian heritage. We do understand the importance of adopted persons knowing about their birth heritage, and we are open to discussing contact with you in the future. We will provide a loving, stimulating and fun environment for your child. We long for children in our lives and we are full of vitality and joy for life to share with another family member.

With our best wishes,
Jeff and Gudrun

The family on this webpage is working with Pact, An Adoption Alliance, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the highest quality adoption services to children of color. We would be happy to give you more information about them and adoption in general - please feel free to call us (ask for Marta Barton, one of our Adoption Coordinator and a birth parent herself who placed her first son for adoption in 1991) at (800) 750-7590.

Our primary client is the child. In order to serve the child, we address the needs of all the child's parents, by advising families facing a crisis pregnancy and by offering lifelong education to adoptive families and birth families on matters of race and adoption. Our goal is for every child to feel wanted honored and loved, a cherished member of a strong family with proud connections to the rich cultural heritage that is his or her birthright. Pact was incorporated in 1991 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
