Tom and Mariann want to adopt a baby

Hi!

We're Tom and Mariann. This letter is our way of sharing a little of ourselves with you. We have been friends for sixteen years and happily married for the last nine. Over the years we have often dreamed of, saved for, and planned on sharing our home, our faith, our values, and our love with children of our own.

We were, however, unsuccessful at ever conceiving. We are now excited with the prospect of building our family through adoption.

We have both been blessed with wonderful parents who were our greatest teachers. They not only nurtured and cared for us, but instilled in us a deep sense of Christian values, along with a love of life and a deep respect of others. It would be a great privilege to share these same values with your child.

Although it is impossible to share everything about our lives with you, we do hope that the following pictures and notes give you a sense of who we are and what life with us might be like.

Our hearts go out to you at this very difficult time. We respect you for exploring all of the options available to you and your child. We pray that you will ultimately make the decision which is best for you and your baby.

Thank you for considering us, and may God guide you in your decision.

Sincerely,
Tom and Mariann

Our Home

We live in a quiet, foothill community in central California. On just over an acre of land, our home is surrounded by great beauty. Whether working in the garden, or relaxing on the deck, it's the sound of the water rushing over the rocks in the nearby creek, or the sight of our duck or geese running through our yard that remind us what a great place we have to live.

What a wonderful place for a child to grow up!

Although we live in the country, our home is just ten minutes from the nearby city. We are an hour from Lake Tahoe, and three hours from the Pacific coast, two of our favorite places to go exploring. If you were to visit our home, you would most likely be greeted by a warm smile, a fine cooked pasta meal, and the sweet smell of fresh baked bread. You would rarely go home before sharing in a song or two around the piano.

About Mariann

As a public school teacher, I have been involved with children for many years. Watching my students get excited when they have learned something new has always been one of the best parts of teaching.

In college, I majored in child development, earned a Multiple Subject Credential and a Learning Handicapped Specialist Credential.

I taught in Special Education for seven years and in regular education for nine years.

Although I have enjoyed my career as an educator, I plan on staying at home once we have a little one to raise. Outside of school, church occupies a large part of my free time.

As a volunteer, I coordinate many of our church services. Together with Tom, I also sing in the choir. Church will always be a major part of our lives.

About Tom

A visit to "Uncle Tom's" can tell a person a lot about who I am, and what it would be like to have me as a father.

Sunny days might mean visiting or feeding the various animals in our neighborhood or a spirited game of croquet or lawn bowling.

Rainy days could bring out the various construction sets. My twenty year career as an engineer and inventor likely had its roots in these sorts of toys years ago, and I always love to see what the kids have built.

And then there is music. Whether at home, church, or Mari's school, it is such a joy to help kids discover the wonder of music. It is a rare visit to "Uncle Tom's" where little hands aren't exploring piano, guitar or drums!

Our Family and Friends

Mariann grew up with two brothers and three sisters. All, but one, still live in the area. We enjoy many frequent visits with all of them. Your child would grow up with a large extended family. There are many cousins who would
gladly teach a new one the joys at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Tom grew up in Ohio with his parents and one sister. They, also,
are very close. We love taking the train back to visit. We both have made many friends over the years, young and old, and we continue to enjoy music and other good times with them.
