STEVAN ABOUT MAUREEN
Maureen loves life and people more than anyone I know. She can make complete strangers feel at ease and is giving in all ways. One example that makes me especially proud is a citywide drive to get bathing suits for disadvantaged kids using the city pools. Maureen also helps teach science in Luke's private school and is active in ministries at church.

Maureen has a Master's degree in Public Health and writes articles for the neighborhood paper. But mostly she is a stay-at-home mom with her priority making a happy home and preparing to embrace another child.

MAUREEN ABOUT STEVAN
Stevan's sense of humor initially attracted me to him. He was so easy and fun to be with that I fell in love very soon after we met. Over time I came to appreciate his honesty and deep sense of responsibility.

He makes friends easily and is incredibly loyal. Stevan is the type of dad who makes routine tasks like brushing teeth into a game. His enthusiasm is contagious!

Stevan is a great provider and fully supports my decision to be a full-time mom. He never does something halfway. In fact, he's now training to run a marathon to raise money to fight cancer. Stevan was a journalist for many years and even worked in Berlin as a foreign correspondent. He's now a vice president for a global public relations firm and is very happy in his work.

OUR HOME

Our home is in a wonderful established Sacramento neighborhood called the Fabulous Forties. It has tree-lined streets and old gas streetlamps. It is so picturesque that recently part of a film starring John Travolta was shot here!

It's the kind of place that on the 4th of July several streets are blocked off so kids can ride bikes and parents can push baby strollers in the annual parade.

Our lives are centered on family and many friends. We love to entertain with barbeques and swimming parties for Luke and our friends' kids.

Fitness and nutrition are important to us and we regularly receive a box of organic produce from a local farm.

We added another bedroom to our two-story home in anticipation of our new baby. Luke already refers to the space as the baby's room and he couldn't be more excited to be a big brother.

OUR FAMILIES
Mareen has four older sisters and a younger brother. Her parents and family mostly live in Florida so she and Luke visit about 4 or 5 times a year.

Every year we have a weeklong family reunion with more than 60 relatives on the East Coast. The week is packed with activities for all the kids and we have lots of laughs, hugs and bocce! It is the best part of every summer.

Stevan grew up in Modesto and is the oldest of four children. His father is a physician and his mom is active in the community. They are active grandparents and love to spend time with Luke. We regularly visit each other and they are Luke's favorite babysitters.

Combined, our families have instilled in us strong values and raised us to be loving, honest, hardworking and kind. We feel strongly about raising children who will grow up to be effective and compassionate adults. We are blessed with the opportunity to raise children, so it's our responsibility to prepare them to make the world a better place.
