Our Home
Our home is located in a small, quiet town in Northern California. When we first purchased our house it was a "fixer upper" and needed a great deal of care. Over the years we have put a lot of time and energy into it and are now very proud of the cozy, comfortable place it is today. When our friends and family bring their children to visit, we often go play in the small park across the street, and can't wait until our little one joins in the fun.
Diana about Ken
Ken is kind, gentle and easy-going. The longer we are together, the more I realize how lucky I am. He is also very thoughtful and caring. Family is very important to him. Ken moved from the East Coast to California in order to spend more time with his grandparents. Ken's mother lived back East, so as his grandparents grew older and needed more care, Ken took on a lot of the responsibility. It was an emotionally difficult time for Ken, but he never complained because he really loved his grandparents.
Ken is a banker but his true love is sports, especially basketball, golf and softball, and he enjoys cooking as well. Lucky me!! Ken belongs to a gourmet club that meets several times a year. Every time they get together they prepare a fabulous gourmet dinner. Even the left-overs are delicious!
Ken gets a lot of satisfaction out of giving back to his community. He's been on the board at Stanford Settlement for many years. They are a neighborhood organization specializing in helping seniors and children at risk of getting involved with drugs and gangs. In addition, Ken also belongs to Rotary. His rotary club raises money and participates in projects to better the community.
Ken about Diana
Diana is my soul mate. She is the most loving, compassionate, nurturing person
I know. She has all the qualities that make a great mother, including a great
sense of humor. Sometimes Diana reminds me of our cats. She is independent, beautiful, energetic and full of life. Diana is truly a wonderful person and cares a great deal about others. She is always involved in helping people in one way or another. She manages a program for developmentally disabled adults. Diana really cares about her clients and feels good that she is giving back to the community through her work. Diana also is involved in a charity organization that focuses on helping women and children. One way they help is by awarding scholarships to high school girls who will be going to college and to single mothers who are getting an education to better support their families. Diana has a wonderful sense of humor and is really great with
people. She is like a magnet to kids. When I see her with the children of friends and family, I can tell that she will be a natural mother.
Our Family
Ken's parents have been married for over 35 years. It is their first and only marriage. They are warm and caring, and welcomed Diana into the family so that she feels like she really is their daughter. They only have one grandchild, whom they love very much. They can't wait to welcome another grandchild into the family. Ken's parents are retired and travel quite a bit. They often stop by our house and visit while on their travels. He has two brothers. His older brother is married and has a teenage step-daughter, Melissa. His younger brother is a merchant marine.
Diana's parents are both remarried and have been happily married for over 20 years each. She has two sisters. Dad, Jan and one sister live in Oregon. Mom, Bob, her other sister and grandmother live in California. Diana's whole family is excited about welcoming a new baby into the family. Her sister who lives in California has two beautiful children --Trevor (age6) and Baylie (age 1). We take every opportunity to visit and enjoy playing with them.
Mr. Smoke and Miss Cisco are the feline members of our family. They were strays who ended up adopting us! Mr. Smoke got hit by a car near Diana's house over 12 years ago. Diana took him in and gave him lots of tender loving care. Mr. Smoke recovered from his injuries and is just as spry now as he was before the accident. Miss Cisco won our hearts by just ending up on our doorstep one day. Our cats are charming and delightful, and give us a great amount of joy. When we get our back yard fenced in we would love to have a dog. We love animals!!!
More About Us
We love being together, and spending time with our friends and family. Both of us truly enjoy children and try to see our nieces and nephew at every opportunity. Trevor likes sports, so we have taken him to professional basketball games since he was three. Every year our oldest niece visits us for a week. We always have a wonderful time together. We also enjoy camping, rafting and taking weekend trips to Napa, Tahoe and San Francisco. For our honeymoon we went to Disney World and Epcot Center, and can't wait to go back with our child. We've also been to Italy and hope to do more traveling out of the country.
