Growing up in a large family was a wonderful experience. With two sisters and a brother, there was always something going on. When I was younger, I wondered how my parents could manage us all, now as a parent myself, I realize it is not a chore but a joy.
I grew up in a small town in Michigan, leaving when I was twenty. I love living in Auburn because it has the same small town feel, yet I can do so many of the things I enjoy like mountain biking, skiing, run/hiking, etc. I also like to go to the racquet club with Sonya and Austin on the weekends. We have a great time hitting tennis balls, eating a picnic lunch, and going for a swim. After all that I use woodworking as my creative outlet. I have designed and built several pieces of furniture in our home. The pieces give me satisfaction because much of my work is abstract and sometimes it is nice to be able to set a glass down on the finished product.
I am a deputy district attorney for Placer County. I really enjoy my job for many reasons. I like working in court as much as I can, I also feel I am helping to create a better world. It is important to me to help people either by protecting the innocent or by getting people, who need and want it, help toward becoming members of society.
I have been very fortunate to share my life with Sonya and Austin. My wish is to include another child in this wonderful life we have created together.
Sonya...
I love adventure. I am very involved in a fun sport called endurance riding. My horse, Gypsy, and I compete in several endurance rides per year. The most beautiful and challenging is called the Tevis Cup; it is one hundred miles through the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. I also love to run, ski, bike, and do almost anything out doors. Austin and I have recently started snowboarding together and we always have a great time laughing at how silly the other is.
I am also creative. I work part time doing interior design for my dad who is a building contractor. And Jeff and I love to do all sorts of home improvement projects. At the end of the day, I love to create healthy, tasty, meals.
Reading and learning new things is also very important to me. Volunteering in Austin's class room, helping the children to read, so they can have access to the incredible world held in books, is something I cherish doing.
Most importantly, I love to laugh and smile. I give hugs freely and can't wait to give tons of love and hugs to another child.
Family Fun!!!
We have so much fun with our family! Luckily, we live very close to Austin's aunt and uncle, in fact, they live just a few houses down in the same neighborhood. Austin's "Amma", Sonya's mom, lives only five minutes away. Austin's great grandma lives twenty minutes away. We have fun family gatherings and parties with lots of extended family. Almost every year we travel back to Maui for a wonderful vacation with Amma, Aaron, Krissa, and sometimes other family and friends. We enjoy trips with our family to Colorado to ski, as well as Florida, Alaska, Michigan, and of course, all over California.
Most of Jeff's family lives on the east coast. We love to visit his mom and dad (Janet and Doug) at their house on Chesapeake Bay. They live between Baltimore and Washington D.C., which makes it easy to enjoy both cities. One of our favorite places to visit is the Baltimore Aquarium. We also love to see the sights in D.C. such as the Smithsonian Museums and the numerous historical monuments. The last time we went to Jan and Doug's house we went to New York and saw the Broadway production of the Lion King!
