Adoptions are for the following counties of California only:
Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma.
We can work with families who live in these 9 couties!
Families are Needed.
Strong, stable families who care about children and have love, patience, guidance and understanding to give to children, make the best adoptive parents.
- Single women or men can adopt.
- Apartment dwellers can adopt.
- Working mothers and fathers can adopt.
- People with moderate incomes can adopt.
The most important thing is a family's willingness to make a life-long commitment to a child needing a family.
Family Builders is Unique
Family Builders focuses on special needs children. We believe that every child--regardless of age, race, or disability--deserves to grow up in a permanent, nurturing family.
- Family Builders places children who have not found homes through other agencies.
- Family Builders finds families to serve as foster/adopt families until the children are ready to be adopted by them.
- Family Builders provides extra pre- and post-placement support services to children and families.
- Family Builders does not charge a fee to the family.
Adoption has Changed.
While there are many families to adopt healthy young children, many special children continue to wait for families of their own.
Being "special" may mean:
- being African-American, Latino, or of mixed parentage.
- being a white or minority child aged 3-17.
- being physically, mentally, or emotionally challenged or drug-exposed.
- having brothers or sisters who should be placed together.
These children are just like other children in our neighborhoods, our schools, and our churches. They have the same basic need for love and guidance. They want a family they can call their own.
What You Need to Know
Family Builders is licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services to provide adoption and foster family agency services.
Family Builders is a member of the national Family Builders Network. Speakers are available to discuss the adoption process with clubs and organizations.
Family Builders has licensed, clinical social workers and experienced adoption practitioners. Family Builders has been successfully providing adoption services for more than ten years. Family builders is a California nonprofit, public benefit corporation. It relies on donations from businesses, individuals, and groups.
Family Builders' professional services are free to families. Special needs children are eligible for adoption subsidies which may include medical coverage and special cash grants. Foster/adopt families can receive monthly payments. Please call for more information.
