Resources
Resources are available for families both in their communities as well as nationally. Early Intervention Developmental Services are available for families through their local school system. The teachers in these programs offer assistance in identifying particular developmental needs of children, addressing speech, motor, and social delays, as well as identifying and addressing behavioral patterns that have resulted from institutional living. There are also several pediatricians in the United States with expertise in medical issues associated with international adoption.
If a child has specific medical developmental, or behavioral concerns, families should contact a pediatric center experienced in assisting the particular needs of these children. The medical specialists at these centers can offer assistance with adoption issues both before and after a family adopts a child.
